What have you learned about Carter Druse in the story? Carter Druse was a young Southerner. Though he was supposed to stand on the side of the Confederacy like his father, he joined the Union. In the war he had to kill his father as a dangerous enemy to save his comrades and win the battle. So we can see that Carter was a brave and loyal solider and did what he thought was his duty, as his father wished.
