Analysis of teaching materials(教材分析): This reading passage is the high light of this unit. It mainly tells about Tangshan earthquake in 1976. By describing this terrible disaster, students can know more information about the earthquakes and feel proud of our great nation and great people. So it not only contains the most important words and sentences structures of this unit but also embodies the theme of this whole unit. Analysis of the students(学情分析): Students is enthusiastic about natural disasters but their reading ability is poor. Teaching Aims: Language skills(语言能力): 1) Master some useful words, phases. 2) Understand the whole procedure of Tangshan earthquake exactly. 2.Learning abilities(学习能力): 1) Develop students reading skills such as skimming and scanning. 2) Learn about disaster relief work. 3) Express their own opinions using the languages in the passage. 3.Thinking quality(思维品质): Develop the students ability to generalize and the ability of logic and data analysis. 4.Cultural awareness(文化意识) Get the students to know how to survive an earthquake. we have deep feelings with each other. We should treasure our lives and feel proud of China. Key points and difficult points(重难点): 1) how to enable the students to master the reading skills such as skimming and scanning. 2) how to help the students to express their thoughts using what they have learned in the reading. ?Teaching methods(教学方法): 1)Task-based learning and teaching method group-work 2)Multimedia teaching Teaching procedures Step 1.
