1. What is the definition of nonverbal communication?
Nonverbal communication is the process by which nonverbal behaviors are used, either singly or in combination with verbal behaviors, in the exchange and interpretation of messages in a given situation or context. Nonverbal communication is everything except the actual words.
2. What are the functions of nonverbal communication?
Nonverbal communication has its own unique functions in human interaction.
Broadford J. Hall (2002) summarized the most distinctive functions as follows:
