Warming up
I. Ask students to look at the pictures of transportations and discuss the following questions:
What are the names of transportations?
Which transportation do you usually take?
= 2 \* ROMAN II. Introduce the learning content to the students. They are going to read some passages about transportations.
Pre-reading
= 1 \* ROMAN I. Present some new words on the slide. Tell students their meanings and pronunciations.
II. Present the following questions and the pictures on Page 39, and then ask students to predict:
Which transportation is fast, cheap and on time?
What kind of transportation is often crowed?
What kind of transportation is the best way to get around?
Reading practice (1)
Presentation
I. Ask the students to skim the passage on Page 39, and try to answer the above questions. Give the students some advice about reading skills.
II. Play the tape. Ask students to read after the tape and underline the important phrases. Explain the meanings of these phrases to students.
