China is famous for its long-lasting food culture. Good Chinese food is supposed to be divine on all aspects containing appearance, fragrance and taste. ;In a country as immense as China, the diversity of its food is vast, but there are five major styles which can be attributed to the different regions from which they come from.; We call this different types of food “cuisine families”, which means a group of food in a certain region that contains similar specialty and that is liked in this certain region.; 5 different types of foods in China;Beijing Cuisine in the North ;This style originates in the Imperial court(朝廷), so the food must be fit for an emperor. The most famous dish is of course?Peking duck?and is a must on your trip to Beijing.; Wheat is widely grown here in the north, so noodles made from wheat flour(面粉) replace the rice. Steamed dumplings are also common. ;Sichuan Food in the West ;Some of popular Sichuan dishes are Ma Po Tofu and Kong Pao Chicken. Chengdu will be a great place to try out some of these dishes.;Also well known in Sichuan is the?Hot Pot.?In Chongqing, hot pot is considered a local specialty. ;Hunan Food in Central China ;The Hunan Sweet and Sour Chicken(糖醋鸡块) or Pork(糖醋排骨) are famous. ;Fujian cooking in the East ;Cantonese Food in the South ;Soy(酱油) and ginger(姜)are the main seasonings(调味品), and their cooking relies on a great variety of fresh ingredients for flavor.
Cantonese food specializes in stir frying, steaming and roasting.;This is the style we grew up with at home. Some of our favorite Cantonese dishes: char siu (barbeque pork), stir-fried beef and peppers with black bean sauce(干煸牛肉丝?), lemon chicken(柠檬鸡块) and Dim Sum of course!
Some well-known Cantonese Delicacies: Shark’s fin soup(鱼翅汤 ), Bird’s nest soup(冰花炖官燕 ). ;There are different methods to divide Chinese
