This course takes Roy J. DeCarvalho’s The Founders of Humanistic Psychology as the basic textbook. The author is an expert in the theory, history, and application of humanistic psychology, and the book gives a general but clear description of the historical development, theoretical ideas, and applied techniques of humanistic psychology. Further more, it discusses humanistic psychology in the background of the history of Western psychology, especially with regard to the historical opposition between humanistic psychology and the naturalistic scientific psychology.
