I think she is a delegate of modern women. She is a naive, unyielding，independent, and brave woman. Even though she was an orphan, but she has a simple thoughts and made clear between hatred and love. When she was in the Lowood School and met Helen who helped her in often. Jane felt she was not loneliness. Unfortunately, Helen was dead finally. And it shows that Jane was loved and cherished Helen, until she was dying Jane asked her when and where we will meet. In that time Maria Temple who was a kind teacher at Lowood treats Jane and Helen with respect and compassion, and she serves as one of Jane’s fist female role models. She made Jane known that intelligence and a proper education will give her independence of spirit. That is the greatest blessing of all. The only thing that matters in her life is to be in harmony with God. Then Jane has been forming her own ideas about faith and principle and their practical consequences. Knowing that Rochester’s wife is still alive and it is impossible for her to be with Rochester, Jane leaves Thornfield. Penniless and hungry, Jane is almost sick to death. However, she was strongly still alive. According to Christian tradition, a good woman does not need to feel physical passion or require it in her lover. But when St. John insists Jane marrying him and been a missionary’s wife. She remains true to herself with great difficulty and ignores his feelings. It shows the rebellious ideas of her. At last, Jane finds a comfortable middle ground. Her spirit is not hateful and oppressive like Mr. Brocklehurst’s, nor does it require retreat from the everyday world as Helen’s and St. John’s religions do. For Jane, religion helps curb immoderate passions, and it spurs one on to worldly efforts and achievements. These achievements include f
