if/whether引导的宾语从句由whether/if引导的宾语从句，实际上是由一般疑问句演变而来的。常用来表达不确定的概念，可以翻译为“是否”宾语从句用陈述句语序（主语+谓语+其他成分）。Idon’tknow.../IsthegirlinredJenny?→Idon’tknowwhether/ifthegirlinredisJenny.我不知道穿红衣服那个女孩是否是Jenny。

if或whether引导宾语从句时，作“是否”讲，一般情况下，两者常可换用。只用whether在动词不定式之前只能用whether在whether…ornot的固定搭配中在介词后只能用whether宾语从句放在句首表示强调时Ican’tdecidewhethertoleave.Iwanttoknowwhetherit’sgoodnewsornot.IworryaboutwhetherIhurtherfeelings.Whetheritistrueornot,Ican’ttell.

特殊疑问词引导的宾语从句疑问词在句中既起连接作用，作句子成分，又有实际意义：连接代词who,whom,whose,what,which,连接副词when,where,why,howwho在从句中作主语、表语；whom在从句中作宾语；whose在从句中作定语；what,which在作主语、宾语、表语或定语;when,where,why,how在从句中分别作时间状语、地点状语、原因状语、方式状语。
