Abstract
WiththeaccelerationofglobalizationandtheincreasinglyfrequentculturalexchangesbetweenChinaandforeigncountries,thetranslationofsciencefictionplaysanincreasinglyimportantroleincross-culturalcommunication.However,becausesciencefictionofteninvolvesrichculturalconnotationsanduniqueexpressions,itisdifficulttodealwithculture-loadedwordsintheprocessoftranslation.Especiallyunderthetheoreticalbackgroundofculturalturn,translationisnolongerjustalinguistictransformation,butacomplexprocessinvolvingculture,society,historyandotherlevels.Thispaperaimstoexplorethetranslationstrategiesofculture-loadedwordsinsciencefictionfromtheperspectiveofculturalturn,andtaketheThree-BodyProblem,awidelyinfluentialsciencefictionnovel,asanexampletoanalyzethetreatmentofculture-loadedwordsinthetranslationprocess.
Thispaperfirstreviewsthedevelopmentofculturalturntheoryanditsinfluenceontranslationstudies,andthendiscussesthedefinition,classificationandcharacteristicsofculture-loadedwordsinsciencefiction.Basedonthein-depthanalysisoftheEnglishversionoftheThree-BodyProblem,thispaperfocusesonthetranslationstrategiesofculture-loadedwords,includingliteraltranslation,freetranslation,transliterationandsoon.Itisfoundthatwhentranslatingculture-loadedwords,differentstrategiesshouldbeflexiblyusedaccordingtospecificsituationstoachieveaccuratetransmissionofculturalinformationandeffectivecross-culturalcommunication.Inconclusion,thispapermakesanin-depthstudyoftheEnglishtranslationofculture-loadedwordsinsciencefictionfromtheperspectiveofculturalshift,whichnotonlyenrichistheresearchcontentoftranslationtheory,butalsoprovidesusefulreferenceandinspirationforthetranslationpracticeofsciencefictioninthefuture.
