Introduction

Agroecologyisthescienceofapplyingecologicalconceptsandprinciplestothedesign,development,andmanagementofsustainableagriculturalsystems.Agroecologicaleconomics,asubsectionofagriculturaleconomics,evaluatestheecologicalconsequencesofagriculturalmethodsontheeconomicscale.Agroecologicaleconomicsconsidersgreenengineeringasameansofmeasurement.

Astheenvironmentalmovementunfolds,theimportanceofbiodiversityandlong-termsustainabilityareindisputable.Progressdependsondeterminingtheeconomicviabilityofterrestrialagroecosystems.Whatislackingistheanalysisneededtobringbiodiverseandsustainablesystemstofruition.AgroecologicalEconomicsanalyzesthecurrenttopicsthatmustbeaddressedinordertoprovidesustainableagriculturalsystems.Itexplainstheeconomicsofland-useecologywithemphasisonchangingoverfromaconventionalmodelofagriculturetoenvironmentally-andecologically-friendlymodelsandthefinancialincentivesthatareimportanttothesepractices.
