摘要

本报告的案例摘自两篇海事管理领域最新发表的论文，其用词具有海事英语的特点，专

业术语多、词汇复杂且大量使用名词。对该文本进行翻译研究不仅为我国海运业的发展提供

借鉴，同时也对促进国际海事交流具有重要意义。

由于英语语言具有抽象化的特点，因此如何将英语中静态抽象化的名词译为地道的汉语

是一大难题。而卡特福德翻译理论提供了这一难题的解决方案。英国著名翻译理论家卡特福

德首次提出“翻译转换”这一概念，研究了句子以下微观层面的翻译转换现象。本实践报告

以卡特福德翻译理论为指导，分析了名词汉译的三种方法，即转译法，包括将名词转译成动

词和形容词等；增译法，包括增加范畴词和抽象名词具体化；以及将抽象名词译成四字格的

方法。通过对海事管理类文本进行翻译实践并研究其中名词的翻译方法，本报告对卡特福德

翻译理论指导翻译实践提供参考。

ABSTRACT

Examplesinthistranslationpracticereportarepickedfromtworecentlypublishedpapersin

thefieldofmaritimemanagement.TheirwordshavethecharacteristicsofmaritimeEnglish,with

manyprofessionalterms,complexvocabularyandalargenumberofnouns.Thetranslationstudy

ofthistextnotonlyprovidesreferenceforthedevelopmentofChinasmaritimeindustry,butalso

isofgreatsignificancetopromoteinternationalmaritimeexchanges.

BecauseEnglishlanguageisabstract,howtotranslatestaticandabstractnounsinEnglishinto

authenticChineseisabigproblem.Catford,whofirstputforwardtheconceptofTranslation

Shiftandstudiedthetranslationshiftphenomenonatthemicrolevelbelowthesentence,provides

asolutiontothisproblem.Undertheguidanceofthetheory,thispracticereportputsforwardthree

translationmethodsofnouns,namelyconversion,whichincludesconvertingnounsintoverbsand

adjectives,etc.;addition,whichincludestheadditionofcategorywordsandtheconcretizationof

abstractnouns;andtranslatingnounsintofour-characteridiom.Itisexpectedthatthereport

providesreferenceforthetranslationpracticeguidedbyCatfordstranslationtheory.
