    Abstract.Nowadays,thecompetency-basedapproachisbecomingmoreandmoretraditionalin

    Ukrainianeducationforeverylevel–frompreschooltopostgraduate.Itsfocusisontwomain

    concepts,“competency”and“competence”,interpretedinnumerouswaysinteachingand

    learning,whichleadstoinadequateeducationalresults.Therefore,profoundunderstandingand

    clearvisionofthemainconceptsareverysignificantfortheeffectiveorganizationofthe

    educationalprocess.ThearticleexaminestheICTcompetencyasaprerequisiteforeffective

    professionalactivitiesofpre-serviceteachersofmathematicsandinformaticsinconditionsof

    informationsocietyanddigitalworld.TheproperICTcompetencelevelcanconsiderablyenhance

    boththeteachingandlearningprocesses,facilitateteachers’professionaldevelopmentandtheir
