Abstract Xinsheng (Rebirth) Weekly came forth in February 1934 in Kuomintang governed areas. In June 1935, the weekly was closed down by Kuomintang authorities because of an article (Chat about Emperors) that wrote by Yishui (Ai Hansong).Japan thought that there are some ideas insult Japanese emperor in the article and gave pressure on Kuomintang government. Du Congyuan, the chief editor of Xinsheng was thrown into prison. Xinsheng is a publication that propagandized its thought of anti-Japan and saving the nation from extinction. On the one hand, Xinsheng Weekly disclosed Japan’s barbarous aggression and accused it of committing many horrible crimes against Chinese people, which made the populace strengthen consciousness of national calamity and protest strongly against aggressor ’s such behaviors. On the other hand, the weekly also deprecated Kuomintang ‘s policy of making compromise with Japan. Both Japan and Kuomintang authorities hated it very much. The weekly also criticized domestic feudal and other backward forces in order to promote national cohesion and call for the country to refuse to be enslaved and rose in straggle. Under the situation of Japan’s invasion and China ’s national calamity, Xinsheng Weekly had shown national bourgeoisie and intellectuals strongly contestation of resisting Japan and itself ideological nature. This thesis divided seven parts. The first part is the preface in which we simply introduce the weekly and it ’s though of saving the nation from extinction, and introduces the study situation about the weekly in current academic circles; put forward the conception of the thesis.
