從《知識組織》內容分析探討分類研究趨勢 An Exploration of the Research Trend on Classification：From the Journal Knowledge Organization 鄭惠珍 Hui-chen Cheng 新埔技術學院圖書館館長 Director, St. John’s St. Mary’s Institute of Technology Library 【摘要Abstract】 1993年，國際性學術刊物《國際分類》更名為《知識組織》。《知識組織》名稱更迭所隱含之意義是舊酒裝新瓶，繼續傳統分類理論之探討，亦或是新里程碑之開啟，一個新學科之誕生？由於分類未來趨勢影響圖書資訊學教育課程之設計，因此本文試圖以此期刊為對象進行研究。首先藉由比較更名前後之文獻分類表瞭解其研究範圍是否產生變化；接著以量化研究方式針對1993至2000年《知識組織》所收錄之文獻進行分析，以洞悉分類研究轉變並預測其未來發展趨勢。使圖書資訊界對目前分類的研究有一概括認識，作為將來分類課程設計或研究參考之用。 In 1993, the influential periodical International Classification changed its name to its present one of Knowledge Organization. Was the change merely a simple re-packaging effort designed to extend the discussion on classification, or did it suggest a beginning of a new discipline? As the trends and developments of classification directly affect the course curriculum design in Library and Information Science, the journal Knowledge Organization is used as a target for this study. This paper considers the changing scope by comparing the two outlines of classification system for literature in both International Classification and Knowledge Organization. In addition, the paper analyzes quantitatively the literatures published in Knowledge Organization over the eight-year period of 1993 to 2000. Hopefully the areas of research activities and trends found in this paper can benefit members in the field of Library and Information Science as reference for course or further study. [關鍵詞Keyword]： 《國際分類》、《知識組織》、分類 International Classification, Knowledge Organization, classification 壹、前言 讓讀者快速找到所需之書是圖書館從業人員念茲在茲的心願，因而分類觀念在圖書館營運管理中十分重要；由此衍生出在圖書資訊學（以下簡稱圖資）領域中，“分類”也一直是重要研究議題之一，從1887年杜威(Melvil Dewey)成立美國第一所圖書館學校時，課程內容即包括分類，以及探討分類主題期刊之設立，如Cataloging and Classification Quarterly、Journal of Classification、Journal of Cataloging and Classification及International Classification等即可窺知一二。近年來資訊技術進步神速、網際網路應用普及，圖書館分類的對象從有形的媒體延伸至無形的電子資源，分類於傳統圖書館中所扮演的角色，如排架與瀏覽等功能，在數位環境中不再是關注的重點。然而“分類”是處理圖書資訊的根本支柱，所以分類未來趨勢將影響圖資界教育課程之設計，因此有必要對
