内容摘要 本论文以塞林格后期短篇小说为研究对象,主要探寻塞林格笔下“少年智者” 形象群的自我追求。 本文主要借鉴了比较神话学的“英雄之旅”模式,重点考察塞林格作品“追 寻”和“英雄”两大母题。在塞林格的作品中,不断出现重复的神话结构元素: 主人公在在社会中经历了相似的疏离感之后踏上自我追寻的旅程,这一追寻过程 分为坠落、黑暗和启蒙等几个环节。主人公的心理状态是特殊社会历史背景的产 物,但同时他们的旅程也可在诸多民族的神话中找到共性。因此,本文视塞林格 的主人公为原型人物,其追寻之旅为原型旅程。同时,塞林格的主人公均是青少 年角色,这种“儿童原型”背后蕴含的深刻含义也反映了作者独特的美学和精神 追求。 本文通过分析三位重要主人公完整的追寻旅程,还将深入探讨宗教在“启蒙” 环节中产生差异化作用的原因和影响,从而总结出,塞林格的宗教观乃是一种以 东方思想为核心的融合宗教观。作者在此宗教观点基础上建立的追寻模式,不但 可以反作用于特定历史背景下人物的行动和选择,也同样适用于不同历史时期的 许多文学作品,这正说明了塞林格文学创作的历时性与共时性。 关键词:塞林格;后期短篇小说;原型;东方宗教;自我追寻;儿童 I Abstract This paper mainly discusses self-quest of the y oung wise men image in J.D Salinger`s later fiction. Myth can usually be a manifestation of religion, so Archetypal Criticism Theory is an important clue of this article. We can easily find repeated mythological element in Salinger`s works: the hero experienced similar sense of alienation in society and started their journey about self-quest. They all experienced fall, darkness and enlightenment. These heroes` mental state is a special product of the social and historical surroundings, and their journey can also be found in other myths in different culture and nation. So Salingers hero is the archetypal hero and their journey is a kind of archetypal journey. Also, Salingers protagonist are always teenagers, and these child prototype contains profound meaning and reflects the authors unique aesthetic pursuit.
