A phys- - ical model of mechanical ablation is established mainly in terms of both the thermoelasticity mechanics . , and fracture mechanics T hen the influence of environment and the appearance and disappearance of surface roughness are discussed. The mechanical ablation and thermo-chemical ablation of C/ C com- posites are analyzed.
