T o overcome these disadvanta es, a new Hi h Resolution Dual Later olo ( HRDL) tool has been su ested, developed, and put into oilfield application on a lar e scale. Its electrode sonde confi - uration and operation principle are presented. Its vertical resolution, depth of investi ation and environmental effects includin shoulder, invasion and borehole effects are discussed by numer ical results. It show s that althou h the HRDL tool is much shorter than conventional dual laterolo tools and has more complex borehole effects, it can still obtain both hi h resolution and deep measur ement, and can replace the extensively used conventional dual later olo tools in most c
