Naming conventions are not enforced but are a widely applied good programming habit. Examples Integers start with int intNumber should be a variable of an Integer data type, which means it contains a number without fractions. Strings start with str strName should be a variable of an String data type, which means it contains text. Constants Variables that receive a value ONLY when they are defined and cannot be changed thereafter. Should be used when it is known that the value will not change. Must be assigned a starting value. Some Main Data Types Dim and Static Dim Defines a variable within the block of code (e.g., subroutine) where the Dim statement appears. The variable ceases to exist when the block of code is no longer active. Reentering the block of code will define a totally new variable. The past is dead. Static Defines a variable within the block of code where the Static statement appears. The variable is inaccessible when the block of code is no longer active. Reentering the block of code will reactivate the same variable with its previous value.
