Task 6 Trade Barriers II Case study of the task Rejection Caused by Different Customs A Beijing foreign trade company exported 50M/T frozen ducks to Iran, an Islamic country. However, as the cargo arrived at the port of destination, the Iran importer refused to take the delivery or pay against the document due to the different duck killing method, as the exporter had applied to the pliers killing method that is quite different from the Islamic custom of adopting the neck cutting method. Task 6 Trade Barriers III Text Trade Barriers Among all the barriers in global trade, the overall political atmosphere between nations is the greatest. Trade protectionism is the use of government regulations to limit the import of goods and services. Advocates of trade protectionism believe it allows domestic producers to survive and grow, producing more jobs. Countries often use protectionist measures to guard against such practices as dumping; many are wary of foreign competition in general. Most trade barriers, i.e. the trade protection hurdles, are designed to restrict imports. Trade barriers include language barriers, religion barriers, economic barriers, extra costs and so on. Two of the most common trade barriers are tariff and non-tariff ones. Task
