[ ] ; ABS ; ; ; [ ] U441[ ] A Analysis and Calculation of Braking Distance of ABS Automobiles WANG Run-qi, JIANG ke-jun ( College of Indu stry, Central south forestry University, Changsha 410004, Hunan , China) : ( ) Abstract T he paper analyzes the function of Antilock Br aking System ABS and the ur gent braking course of ABS automobiles with the concept of w ork-energ y. According to the pr inciple of w ork-energy, the paper proposes the calculating m ethods and form ulas of the braking distance of ABS automobiles on three different kinds of roads such as level roads, up-sloping roads and down-sloping roads. T he analysis indicates that ABS can pr event w heels from locking, and raise the direction steadiness and the steering ability of ; - autom obiles under hard braking the ABS automobile obtains maximum braking force coefficient and needs a much shorter distance to stop at the slipping rate of 15% 20% . As the total mass of an automobile isnt directly related to br aking distances the calculating, methods and results suit all ABS automobiles, and are useful for analyzing autom obile braking-properties and road traffic-safety.
