The hara teristi s of the method w ere studied and the differen es betw een the results obtained from the EN data w ith and w ithout drift removing w ere ompared in the time and frequen y domains. The results showed that the polynomial fitting is a good de trending method, but it is very important for users to sele t the polynomial order and verify the detrending results by the pow er spe tral density ( PSD) . In order to remove the trend and keep the useful lowfrequen y omponents the authors re ommend that lower polynomial orders w ould be good. After drift removing, the EN spe trum, statisti al parameters in time domain, and the low er frequen y part of the PSD w ill be hanged obviously.
