UV—curablepolyurethaneprepolymerandDhotoinitiator1173werefacilelyencapsulatedina
poly(urea-formaldehVde)shell，whichwasinsituofrmedbythepolymerizationofofrmalde—
hydeandurea in an oil—in—wateremulsion． ThediametersofthemicrocaDsulesranged
from 118gm to663gm dependingonagitation speed．and wereobtainedviaoptica1m i—
croscopy and scanning electron microscopyanalyses．Theencapsulation percentand the
yieldofmicrocapsulespreparedattheagitationspeedof600r／mincanreach97．52wt％and
65．23wt％，respectively．Whenthewater—bornepolyurethanefWPU1coatingembeddedwith
theprepared microcaDsuleswerescratched thehealingagentcould bereleasedfrom rup—
turedmicrocapsulesandfilledthescribedregion．Theexcellentanticorrosionpropertiesof
theW PU coatingembeddedwiththepreparedmicrocaDsuleswereconfirmedbytheresults
obtainedfrom bothelectrochem icalimpedancespectroscopyandTafelcurves．
