Grammar study (课文中出现的同位语从句再现) 1. The thought that they could cross the whole continent was exciting. 2. Some people have the idea that you can cross Canada in less than five days, but they forget the fact that Canada is 5,500 kilometers from coast to coast. 3. The girls were surprised at the fact that ocean ships can sail up the Great Lakes. Summary: 同位语从句 同位语从句一般跟在某些名词之后,用以说明或解释前面的名词,引导同位语从句的连词常用that. (一)同位语从句在句中作某些名词的同位语,这些名词常见的有:fact, news, hope, truth, idea, suggestion, thought, question, order, problem, belief, doubt, fear,promise, belief, answer, reason等。引导同位语从句的连词通常有that,whether,how,wh-疑问词。例如: The fact that deeds are better than words is quite clear. 事实胜于雄辨这一道理非常清楚. 2. The question how I did it is hard to answer. 我怎么做的这一问题难回答. 3. They had no idea where they should go to find some food. 他们根本不知去哪儿找食物. 4. The question whether he comes or not is not important. (不能用 if ) 他是否来这个问题不重要. 5.A thought came to me that he might be in the library. 我突然想到他可能在图书馆. ( 被别的词隔开)(that 无词义) The fact___ he didn’t see Tom yesterday is true. A. that B. which C. when D. what (二).I have no idea where he has gone. 我不知道他去了哪里。 I have no idea what he did. 我不知道他做了什么。 总结:在have no idea之后常用wh-引导同位语从句。 I have no idea ____he will come back. A. where B. when C. what D. that (三).同位语从句中的虚拟语气 表示“坚持、命令、建议或要求”等的名词后面的同位语从句,常用虚拟语气,从句中的谓语动词形式为(should)+ 动词原形,其中should 可省略。常用词有suggestion, order, demand, request等。例如: 1.The doctor’s order that she (should) stay in
