P2P Solution Proposal P2P Conception In the past time, Content distribution on Internet is a Server to Client structure. All the clients download content from a server such as FTP server, Video Server, HTTP server etc. Diagram 1 shows this structure. Server to client distribution structure has four disadvantages: The first is server side Internet access required high bandwidth (ICP have to pay much more money to broadband network operator), the second is very high system performance requirement, and the third is system not made best use of its bandwidth resource in network access layer, on real time service, server to client structure require too high QoS insurance. With P2P system, all the Subscribers Internet Access Bandwidth is adequately used by P2P system. All the Subscribers not only download but also upload content each other. Only DRM (Digital Right Management) is mainly required for ISP/ICP to run the toll content distribution. The assistant works of ISP/ICP are issuing the content to Internet and running the web billing system. P2P system do not require head-end server, so anyone can freely issue his content to Internet with a P2P Terminal. Any P2P Terminal in the Internet can also share the P2P content. So, the P2P Terminal users can exchange or share their own multimedia content included live streaming IPTV and multimedia files (PVR or VOD service). Diagram 2 shows an Internet P2P system. Base on P2P system, people can use PC or STB to watch live TV, enjoy the video on demand, download files, chat with Instant Message, call the IP phone, or communication with video phone etc. In this proposal, live TV, files download and VOD will be detailed illustrated.
