定态度。两库中Obama均呈现消极语义韵,英国新闻报道中Obama的搭配词表明其糟糕 的处境和应对措施。美国报道中,与Obama搭配的词汇表明了公众对其拙劣的反应和应 对措施的极度失望和强烈不满。两个媒体在报道时都采用了带有意识形态和价值观倾向 的词汇,它们以维护本国利益为出发点,通过词汇表达呈现出了其不同的立场。(3)通 过两个语料库话题内容的对比,发现两者报道内容侧重点有所不同。《卫报》更多关注 本国BP公司的相关事件报道,而《纽约时报》更多关注本国受灾民生状况。新闻媒体 根据自身利益,通过选取报道材料的不同,使报道有利于自己的国家,从而影响读者的 判断。 本研究的意义在于:(1)为语料库语言学在批评性话语分析中的具体应用做出了有 益的尝试;(2)对唤起英语学习者在新闻阅读中批评性意识有借鉴作用。(3)对教学中 教师和学生的批评性语言意识的提高有启示作用。 关键词:批评性话语分析,墨西哥湾漏油事件,意识形态 IV ABSTRACT Mass media influence people unconsciously by accumulated discourse.Actually,the media discourse is embedded with ideology and power.News discourse,as an important media discourse,begins to draw attention of more and nlore researchers.This paper qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes the English coverage of Mexico Gulf oil spill in British and American news media from the perspective of critical discourse analysis based on corpus linguistics.It aims tO discover the hidden ideology by analyzing the similarities and differences of the reports in the two media from the perspective of text,discourse and society. The research questions are as follows:(1)骱at are the high frequency words in British and American news reports 0n Mexico Gulf oil spill respectively?(2)、Ⅳhat are the similarities and differences of key worin British and American news reports on Mexico Gulfoil spill?(3)What ale the thematic features of British and American news repom respectively7. The research procedure is listed below:(1)Collecting data and constructing corpora·Two mini.corpora ale constructed by collecting the online news reports on Mexico Gulf oil spill retrieved from The Guardian and The New York Times,namely,the Guardian corpus(GC)and the New York Times corpus(NTC).The time span ofnews reports is from April 22,2010 to October 31,2010.(2)Analyzing the top 50 high frequency words.Extract the top 50 high frequency words in the two corpora respectively by software Wordsmith 5.0.and make a general comparison.(3)Analyzing the top 30 key words.Extract the top 30 key words in the
