From this novel, we can see the illiberal concern for property of relationship in the English society. Marriage, as a special relationship, is also built upon property. It is well-known that love is based on the marriage. However, a good economic situation is necessary for people in such a historical social environment. The paper describes the different comprehensions on love in Pride and Prejudice. By Jane Austen’s unique perspectives tells people the essence of bourgeois marriage is money transactions and benefit trade. And this paper examines the marriages as presented in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and analyses the importance of marriages. The thesis points out the practical significance of the novel.
