Dead Poets Society 1 INT WELTON ACADAMY DINING HALL - DAY - VARIOUS SHOTS 1CREDITS ROLLOn the left is a life-sized mural depicting a group of youngschool boys looking up adoringly at a woman who representsliberty. On the right is a mural showing young men gatheredaround an industrialist in a corporate boardroom. Between themurals stands a boy.   An odd, blaring MUSICAL SOUND starts and stops, interruptedby the noise of pumping. A teacher hurries to the boy,adjusts his tie, and leads him off.   On another wall is a full-sized portrait of a 19th centuryScotsman in a kilt. In front at this, young boys carryingbanners, and several elderly men in old-fashioned costumesassembling into a processional formation. Nervous youngerboys (7th graders) are shown their places in line and handedcandles. They light each others. candles until all theircandles are lit.   Suddenly the MUSIC BLASTS FORTH in its full splendor. It isa BAGPIPE. The bagpiper, in a kilt like the one in theportrait, begins a processional march. 2 INT CORRIDOR ADJACENT THE DINING ROOM - SAME 2The bagpiper enters a long slate and stone hallway. Thehaunting timbre of his antiquated instrument reverberatesthrough the building. Momentarily, he is followed by theother processional marchers. He leads them down the corridorand down a threshold staircase into:   3 INT. WELTONS OLD, STONE CHAPEL - CONTINUOUS 3Where two hundred high school-aged boys--most of whom wearblack blazers--sit on either side of the central aislewatching the procession move onto the dais in front. Besidemost of these boys are their parents.   VARIOUS ANGLES ON THE PROCESSIONFOUR 16-YEAR-OLD Boys CARRY BANNERS.   Each boy is dressed in an archaic, turn-of-the-centuryoutfit. On each banner is emblazoned a different word. Onereads TRADITION, another reads HONOR, a third readsDISCIPLINE, the last reads EXCELLENCE.THE ELDERLY MENin their 70s and SOS, obviously the schools o
