Methods The clinical data of 48 elderly patients over the age of 70 who showed different postoperative complications were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among the 48 cases, there are 34 cases of esophageal carcinoma (70.8%), 14 cases of cardiac carcinoma (29.2%) and 35 cases of esophageal and cardiac carcinoma combined with other diseases preoperatively (72.9%). Different postoperative complications occurred two days to three months after performing carcinectomy and gastroesophagostomy.
