[Method] From October 2003 ~ June 2007, using an extension of the lateral calcaneal “L” incision, open reduction and internal fixation with reconstruction plate 36 cases of calcaneal fracture. The patients were followed for 6 months to 2 years, an average of 11 months. [Results] 7 cases of postoperative wound is not healing, not healing rate of 19.4%. including 4 cases of skin flap necrosis. by the United States Association of Foot and Ankle (AOFAS) standard (out of 100 points) score of 53 to 98, with an average 84.8 points. [Conclusion] heel skin and soft tissue at the anatomical characteristics of lack of knowledge of fractures with skin and soft tissue injury was underestimated surgical technique properly, the response implants, smoking and so may affect wound healing. fully assess the damage before surgery, choose the appropriate timing of surgery, intraoperative careful operation and familiarity with anatomical features of surgical approach. from preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative treatment given reasonable in order to improve wound healing rate.
