Negative pressure on donor site wounds rate of re-epithelialization

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 20 Negative pressure on donor site wounds rate of re-epithelialization Of: Xu Longshun, Joe Cheng, Chen Shaozong, LI Xue-Yong [Abstract] Objective negative pressure on pig skin donor wound re-epithelialization rate. Methods five pigs, each pig in the back of the formation of an area of 5cm 10cm fault the skin graft donor wounds. Experimental group using a continuous 120mmHg (1mmHg = 0.133kPa) vacuum treatment, control group with Vaseline gauze dressing. Results Negative pressure wound therapy group re-epithelialization speed increased significantly after treatment, 4-6d wound is healing, earlier than the control group, 2-4d, wound inflammation was significantly reduced, the hair follicle epithelium, regeneration of basal and glandular epithelial cell proliferation activity, S phase and G2 + M phase cells was increased (P lt;0.01), PCNA expression was significantly increased. Conclusion negative pressure can significantly improve the donor site wounds re-epithelialization rate. [Keywords:] negative pressure, wound healing, re-epithelialization ABSTRACT: Objective To test the effect of negative pressure on the rate of skin donor site re epithelialization in pig model. Methods Five pigs were selected for this study, and two split thickness skin graft defects were harvested from the back of each animal. Half of the donor sites were treated with 120mmHg negative pressure as the experimental group for 10 days and half were treated with vaseline gauze as the control. Changes in each wound were assessed every two days. Results The rate of re epithelialization increased significantly. The donor sites healed after 4 to 6 days of negative pressure treatment, 2 to 4 days earlier than the control group. The level of inflammatory reaction occurring in wounds treated with negative pressure appeared less severe than that in wounds treated with vaseline gauze. Negative pressure could facilitate cell proliferation . The ratios of S, G2 and M pha
