Methods The CT and MRI features of surgery and pathology proved sacral canal cyst in 13 patients were reviewed retrospectively. Among of them, 5 cases were performed with MRI, and 8 cases with both CT and MRI. Results Sacral canal cyst have characteristics MRI appearances and could be diagnosed before operation, the cysts were being in accord with CSF signal. MRI is superior to CT in the nature diagnostic of sacral canal cyst. Conclusion MRI is suitable for routine imaging investigation in diagnosis and follow-up of sacral canal cyst, CT can clearly show bone destruction. CT and MRI were effective methods in the diagnosis of sacral canal cyst.
