LeafmethanolextractofC.orbiculataL.wasinvestigatedforantinociceptiveandanti-in?ammatoryactivitiesusingaceticacid writhingandhot-platetestsandcarrageenan-inducedoedematestinmiceandrats,respectively.C.orbiculata(100–400mg/kg,i.p.) signi?cantlyinhibitedaceticacid-inducedwrithingandsigni?cantlydelayedthereactiontimeofmicetothehot-plate-induced thermalstimulation.Paracetamol(300mg/kg,i.p.)signi?cantlyinhibitedtheaceticacid-inducedwrithinginmice.Morphine (10mg/kg,i.p.)signi?cantlydelayedthereactiontimeofmicetothethermalstimulationproducedwithhotplate.Leafmethanol extract of C. orbiculata (50–400mg/kg, i.p.) signi?cantly attenuated the carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema.
