Cardiovascular(CV)diseasesareaseriousconcerninrheumatoidarthritis(RA),accountingforapproximatelyone-thirdtoone- halfofallRA-relateddeaths.Besidestheattemptstoidentifynewriskfactors,thepropermanagementoftraditionalCVriskfactors suchasdyslipidemiashouldbecomeapriorityintheperiodicevaluationofeveryRApatient.Atherogenicindexhasbeensuggested tobelesssusceptibletodiseaseactivityvariationduringlargeperiodsoftime,makinghimmoreattractivetobeusedinCVrisk predictioninthisgroupofpatientsascomparedtoindividuallipidsconcentrations.Nevertheless,in?ammationmaynegatively impactHDLantiatherogenicproperties,suggestingthatHDLfunctionassessmentisofparticularimportancewhenpredictingCV riskinthesepatients.Atightcontrolofin?ammationbecomesthereforecrucialforasuccessfulCVriskmanagement.Thepresent paperdebatesthesehypothesesfocusingonthee?ectsoftherapywithbiologicalsontheabovementionedparameters. 1.Introduction guidelines, consequently improving CV pro?le [7].
