BAIRESPACES,k-SPACES,ANDSOMEPROPERLY HEREDITARYPROPERTIES ADNANAL-BSOUL Received11October2004andinrevisedform8September2005 Atopologicalpropertyisproperlyhereditaryproperty ifwhenevereverypropersubspace hastheproperty,thewholespacehastheproperty.Inthisnote,wewillstudysometopo- logical properties thatarepreserved bypropersubspaces; infact,wewillstudythefol- lowingtopologicalproperties:Bairespaces,secondcategory,sequentiallycompact,hemi- compact,δ-normal,andspaceshavingdispersion points.Also,wewillsolvesomeopen problemsraisedbyAl-Bsoul(2003)andArenas(1996)andconcludethisnotebysome openproblems. 1.Introduction In1996,ProfessorM.L.Puertassuggestedthefollowingquestionwhichwasstudiedby Arenasinhispaper[2]: ( ? )ifeverypropersubspacehastheproperty,thewholespacehastheproperty. Anytopologicalpropertysatisfyingtheproperty( )iscalledproperlyhereditaryprop- ? erty.Moreover,ifeveryproperclosed(resp.,open,Fσ,Gδ,etc.)subspacehastheproperty, thenthewholespacehastheproperty,andwecallsuchapropertyproperlyclosed(resp., open,Fσ,Gδ,etc.)hereditary. In[2],Arenas studied some topological properties having theproperty ( ).Infact, ? Arenas[2]provedthatthetopologicalpropertiesTi,i=0,1,2,3,areproperlyhereditary properties.Healsostudiedcountabilityaxiomsandmetrizability.Nevertheless,forAre- nas,theproperty( )makessenseonlyforthetopologicalpropertiesthatarehereditary ? toallsubsets.Ontheotherhand,aswesawin[1],therearesometopologicalproperties whichareproperlyhereditary propertiesbutarenothereditary properties, forinstance, paracompactness. Thus,wemayasktheconverse. Question 1.1. Isthereatopological property P which ishereditary butisnotproperly hereditary? Itisobvioustoseethatifatopologicalpropertyisproperlyhereditary,itisnotneces- sarythatitisproperlyopen(closed)hereditary.So,itisnaturaltorede?nethefollowing (comparewiththede?nitionin[2]).
