Using data from a population-based sample of 244 centenarians(MAge =100.57years,84.8%women,62.7%institutionalized,and21.3%AfricanAmerican)and80octogenarians (MAge =84.32years,66.3%women,16.3%institutionalized,and17.5%AfricanAmerican)we(1)providenormsontheShort PhysicalPerformanceBatteryand(2)extendtherangeofthisscaleusingperformanceonadditionaltasksanditemresponse theory (IRT) models, reporting information on concurrent and predictive validity of this approach.
