Demonstration of successful elimination of lymphatic ?lariasis (LF) in endemic countries requires sensitive diagnostics for accuratede?nitionsofendpointsandfuturesurveillance.Therehasbeeninterestincomplementingavailablediagnosticswith antibodyserologytestinginchildren,sincenegativeserologywouldcorrespondwithcessationofLFtransmission.TheFilariasis CELISAdetectsanti?larialIgG4andhasfavourableresultswithserumsamplesbut?eldapplicationrequiresaneasiersampling method.Ninety-fourpairedplasmaand?lterpapersampleswereassayedwithpromisingresults.The?lterpapermethodresulted inasensitivityof92%andaspeci?cityof77%whencomparedtothepairedplasma.Onehundredandone?lterpapersamples wereassessedforstoragee?ects.Following10-monthstorageat?20 Ctherewasasigni?cantreductioninreactivity(P.001). ?
