NADPHoxidasesconstituteamajorsourceofsuperoxideanion(·O2?)inhypertension.Severalstudiessuggestanimportantrole ofNADPHoxidasesindi?erente?ectsmediatedbyTGF-β1.InthisstudyweshowthatchronicadministrationofP144,apeptide synthesizedfromtypeIIITGF-β1 receptor,signi?cantlyreducedthecardiacNADPHoxidaseexpressionandactivityaswellas inthenitrotyrosinelevelsobservedincontrolspontaneouslyhypertensiverats(V-SHR)tolevelssimilartocontrolnormotensive WistarKyotorats.Inaddition,P144wasalsoabletoreducethesigni?cantincreasesintheexpressionofcollagentypeIproteinand mRNAobservedinheartsfromV-SHR.Inaddition,positivecorrelationsbetweencollagenexpression,NADPHoxidaseactivity, andnitrotyrosinelevelswerefoundinallanimals.Finally,TGF-β1-stimulatedRat-2exhibitedsigni?cantincreasesinNADPH oxidaseactivitythatwasinhibitedinthepresenceofP144.Itcouldbeconcludedthatthebloc
