Thisworkpresentsabottom-upabstractionprocedurebasedonthedesign-?owFDTD+SystemCsuitableforthemodelling ofopticalNetworks-on-Chip.Inthisprocedure,acomplexnetworkisdecomposedintoelementaryswitchingelementswhose input-output behavior is described by means of scattering parameters models. The parameters of each elementary block are thendeterminedthrough2D-FDTDsimulation,andtheresulting analytical modelsareexportedwithin functionalblocksin SystemCenvironment.TheinherentmodularityandscalabilityoftheS-matrixformalismarepreservedinsideSystemC,thus allowingtheincrementalcompositionandsuccessivecharacterizationofcomplextopologiestypicallyoutofreachforfull-vectorial electromagneticsimulators.Theconsistencyoftheoutlinedapproachisveri?ed,inthe?rstinstance,byperformingaSystemC analysisofafour-input,four-outputportsswitchandmakingacomparisonwiththeresultsof2D-FDTDsimulationsofthesame device.Finally,afurthercomplexnetworkencompassing160microringsisinvestigated,thelossesovereachroutingpathare calculated,andtheminimumamountofpowerneededtoguaranteeanassignedBERisdetermined.T
