Wehaveproposedadetectionmethodoffault-pronemodulesbasedonthespam?lteringtechnique,“Fault-prone?ltering.”Fault- prone?lteringisamethodwhichusesthetextclassi?er(spam?lter)toclassifysourcecodemodulesinsoftware.Inthisstudy,we proposeanextensiontousewarningmessagesofastaticcodeanalyzerinsteadofrawsourcecode.Sincesuchwarningsinclude usefulinformationtodetectfaults,itisexpectedtoimprovetheaccuracyoffault-pronemoduleprediction.Fromtheresultof experiment,itisfoundthatwarningmessagesofastaticcodeanalyzerareagoodsourceoffault-prone?lteringastheoriginal sourcecode.Moreover,itisdiscoveredthatitismoree?ectivethantheconventionalmethod(thatis,withoutstaticcodeanalyzer) toraisethecoveragerateofactualfaultymodules. 1.Introduction sourcecodetowarningmessagesofPMD,wecangetthere- sultsofpredictionbyPMDandfault-prone?ltering. Therestofthispaperisorganizedasfollows.Section2 describes the objective of this research. Section3 shows a brief summary of the fault-prone ?ltering technique with PMD.InSection4,theexperimentsconductedinthisstudy are described. Section5 discusses the result of the experi- ments.Finally,Section6concludesthisstudy.
