Introduction.RespiratorydistressareverycommoninVery-low-birth-weight(VLBW)infantsandMyocardialinjurymayplay aroleinthediseaseoutcome.CardiactroponinT(cTnT)isthemostusefulmarkerofinjuryinadultpopulation,buthasnot beenextensivelystudiedinthispopulation.Aim.TostudytheroleofcTnTinVLBWinfantsanditsassociationwithclinical outcomes.Methods.AllVLBWinfantsadmittedtoourNICUwereincludedinthestudy.Echocardiographyandbloodsamples forcTnTdeterminationwerecollectedat24and48hoursoflife,andvalues0.1ng/mLwereconsideredCTnT-positivevalues. Results.Atotalof116neonateshadtheirbloodsamplescollected.ThemediancTnTconcentrationwithin24hourswas0.191 (0.1–0.79)ng/mLandwithin48hourswas0.293(0.1–1.0)ng/mL.AlogisticregressionanalysisshowedthatPDA,lowGA,anduse ofdopaminewereindependentlyassociatedwithpositivecTnTandabnormalDoppler?uxometryanddiureticsusehadprotective e?ectsandwasindependentlyassociatedwithtroponinvalues.Conclusion.WeobservedahighprevalenceofpositivecTnTvalues inVLBWinfantsassociatedwithillnessseverity.Ou
