Weinvestigatedthemetabore?exactivationaftercardiacresynchronizationtherapy(CRT).Methods.10heart failurepatients (meanleftventricularejectionfraction(LVEF)27±4%)scheduldedforCRTimplantationwereprospectivelystudied.Atbaseline andafter6monthfollowuptwomaximalcardiopulmonaryexercisetestswithandwithoutregionalcirculatoryocclusion(RCO) duringrecoverywereperformed.RCOwasachievedbyin?ationofbilateralupperthightourniquets30mmHgabovepeaksystolic bloodpressureduring3minutesafterpeakexercise.Metabore?excontributiontotheventilatoryresponsewasassessedasthe di?erence in ventilatory data at the third minute during recovery between the two tests (Δ).
