Objective.Diabetescareisanimportantpartoffamilypractice.Previousworkindicatesthatdiabetesmanagementisvariable.This studyaimedtoexaminediabetescareaccordingtobestpracticesinonepartofOntario.DesignandParticipants.Aretrospective chartauditof96chartsfrom18physicianswasconductedtoexaminechartsregardingdiabetescareduringaone-yearperiod. Setting.Grimsby,Ontario.MainOutcomeMeasures.Glycemicscreening,controlandmanagementstrategies,documentationand counsellingforlifestylehabits,prevalenceofcomorbidities,screeningforhypertension,hyperlipidemia,anduseofappropriate recommendedpreventivemedicationsinthechartswereexamined.Results.MeanA1cwaswithintarget(lessthanorequalto7.00) in76%ofpatients(ICC=?0.02),atleast4readingsperannumweretakenin75%ofpatients(ICC=0.006).Nearly2/3ofpatients hadbeencounselledaboutdiet,morethan1/2onexercise,andnearlyall(90%)wereonmedication.Nearlyallpatientshadadoc- umentedbloodpressurereadingandlipidpro?le.Overhalf(60%)hadarecordoftheirweightand/orBMI.Conclusion .Although ro
