Cataract surgery in uveitic eyes is often challenging and can result in intraoperative and postoperative complications. Most uveiticpatientsenjoygoodvisiondespitepotentiallysight-threateningcomplications,includingcataractdevelopment.Inthose patientswhodevelopcataracts,successfulsurgerystemsfromeducatedpatientselection,carefulsurgicaltechnique,andaggressive preoperative and postoperative control of in?ammation. With improved understanding of the disease processes, pre- and perioperativecontrolofin?ammation,modernsurgicaltechniques,availabilityofbiocompatibleintraocularlensmaterialand design,surgicalexperienceinperformingcomplicatedcataractsurgeries,ande?cientmanagementofpostoperativecomplications haveledtomuchbetteroutcome.Preoperativefactorsincludeproperpatientselectionandcounselingandpreoperativecontrol ofin?ammation.Meticulousandcarefulcataractsurgeryinuveiticcataractisessentialinoptimizingthepostoperativeoutcome.
