Hypertension,diabetes,andproteinuriaarewell-recognizedriskfactorsforprogressivekidneyfunctionloss.However,despite excellent antihypertensive and antidiabetic drug therapies, which also often lower urinary protein excretion, there remains a signi?cantreservoirofpatientswith chronickidneydiseasewhoareathigh risk forprogressionto end-stagekidneydisease.
