WepresentasimpleanalyticalmethodforcapacityevaluationofIEEE802.16eMobileWiMAXnetworks.Variousoverheadsthat impactthecapacityareexplainedandmethodstoreducetheseoverheadsarealsopresented.Theadvantageofasimplemodelis thatthee?ectofeachdecisionandsensitivitytovariousparameterscanbeseeneasily.Weillustratethemodelbyestimatingthe capacityforthreesampleapplications—MobileTV,VoIP,anddata.TheanalysisprocesshelpsexplainvariousfeaturesofIEEE 802.16eMobileWiMAX.Itisshownthatproperuseofoverheadreducingmechanismsandproperschedulingcanmakeanorder ofmagnitudedi?erenceinperformance.Thiscapacityevaluationmethodcanalsobeusedforvalidationofsimulationmodels. 1.Introduction are several overheads.
