BackgroundandStudyAims.Capsuleendoscopyisanestablishedtoolforinvestigationofthesmallintestine.Becauseoflimited clinicalexperienceinpatientswithcardiacdevices,theFoodandDrugAdministrationandthemanufacturerrecommendednot tousecapsuleendoscopyinthesepatients.Thevastmajorityofinvestigationsdidnotrevealanyinterferencebetweencapsule endoscopyandcardiacdevices.Methods.StudiesinvestigatinginterferencebetweenCEandcardiacdeviceswereanalysed.Forthe reviewweconsideredstudiespublishedinEnglishorGermanandindexedinMedline,aswellashighlyrelevantabstracts.Results. Invitroandinvivostudiesmainlyrevealednointerferencebetweencapsuleendoscopyandcardiacdevices.Technicaldataof capsuleendoscopy(GivenImaging)revealthatinterferencewithcardiacpacemakersandimplantablecardioverterde?brillator is impossible.
