We study countably compact and absolutely H-closed primitive topological inverse semi- groups. We describe the structure of compact and countably compact primitive topological inversesemigroupsandshowthatanycountablycompactprimitivetopologicalinversesemigroup embedsintoacompactprimitive topological inversesemigroup.
