Alzheimer’sDisease(AD)isthemostfrequentformofdementiaandrepresentsoneofthemaincausesofdisabilityamongolder subjects.Uptonow,thediagnosisofADhasbeenmadeaccordingtoclinicalcriteria.However,theuseofsuchcriteriadoesnot allowanearlydiagnosis,aspathologicalalterationsmaybeapparentmanyyearsbeforetheclear-cutclinicalpicture.Anearly diagnosisiseven morevaluableto developnew treatments, potentiallyinterfering with thepathogenetic process. During the lastdecade,severalneuroimagingandcerebrospinal?uid(CSF)parametershavebeenintroducedtoallowanearlyandaccurate detectionofADpatients,and,recently,theyhavebeenincludedamongresearchcriteriaforADdiagnosis.However,theirusein clinicalpracticesu?ersfromlimitationsbothinaccuracyandavailability.Theincreasingamountofknowledgeaboutperipheral biomarkerswillpossiblyallowthefutureidenti?cationofreliableandeasilyavailablediagnostictests. 1.Introduction such studies, research criteria for AD diagnosis have been proposed which include neuroimaging and cerebrospinal ?uid(CSF)parameters[5]. Autopsy data show that neuropathological features of AD are associated with subtle cognitive changes among nondemented sub
