ThecompositionofaBraziliangreen propolisethanolicextract (Et-Bra)anditse?ectonTrypanosomacruzitrypomastigotes andotherpathogenicmicroorganismshavealreadybeenreported.Here,wefurtherinvestigatedEt-BratargetsinT.cruziandits e?ectonexperimentalinfectionofmice.TheIC50/4daysforinhibitionofamastigoteproliferationwas8.5± 1.8μgmL?1,withno damagetothehostcells.InepimastigotesEt-Brainducedalterationsinreservosomes,Golgicomplexandmitochondrion.These e?ectswerecon?rmedby?owcytometryanalysis.Intrypomastigotes,Et-Braledtothelossofplasmamembraneintegrity.Thein vitrostudiesindicatethatEt-Brainterferesinthefunctionalityoftheplasmamembraneintrypomastigotesandofreservosomes andmitochondrioninepimastigotes.AcutelyinfectedmiceweretreatedorallywithEt-Braandtheparasitemia,mortalityandGPT, GOT,CKandurealevelsweremonitored.Theextract(25–300mgkg?1 bodyweight/dayfor10days)reducedtheparasitemia, although not at signi?cant levels; increased the survival of the animals and did not induce any hepatic, muscular lesion or renaltoxicity.SinceEt-Brawasnottoxictotheanimals,itcouldbeassayedi
