Methods:Threeoccupationalgroups,thegeneralDutchworkingpopulation(n=567),airportsecurityofficers whoworkwithmetaldetectors(n=106),andMRIradiographerswhoworkwithMRI(n=193),werecompared onperceivedriskofandpositiveandnegativefeelingstowardsEMFingeneralandofdifferentEMFsources,and healthconcernsbyusinganalysesofvariances.Datawerecollectedviaaninternetsurvey. Results:Overall,MRIradiographershadalowerperceivedrisk,feltlessnegative,andmorepositivetowardsEMF anddifferentsourcesofEMFthanthegeneralworkingpopulationandthesecurityofficers.Forsecurityofficers, feelingmorepositiveaboutEMFwasnotsignificantlyrelatedtoperceivedriskofEMFingeneralorEMFof domesticsources.Feelingpositiveaboutasourcedidnotgeneralizetoalowerperceivedrisk,whilenegative feelingswerestrongerrelatedtoperceivedrisk.MRIradiographershadfewerhealthconcernsregardingEMFthan theothertwogroups,althoughtheyconsidereditmorelikelythatEMFcouldcausephysicalcomplaints. Conclusions:Thesedatashowthatalthoughdifferencesinoccupationappeartobereflectedindifferent perceptionsofEMF,thelevelofoccupationalexposuretoEMFassuchdoesnotpredicttheperceivedhealthrisk ofEMF.
